Metrorail Trains Slowed For Heat Conditions This Afternoon

As a result of this afternoon’s excessive heat conditions, Metro has slightly altered its rail schedules on the Red, Blue, and Orange Lines. In addition, all trains will be operating at reduced speeds in the above ground sections of the rail system.

All Red Line trains are operating every four minutes between Silver Spring and Grosvenor-Strathmore. All Orange Line trains are operating every eight minutes from the ends of the rail line, and all Blue Line trains are operating every nine minutes from the ends of the rail line.

Metro expects normal rush hour service on Wednesday morning.
