Metrorail records eighth highest ridership
Metrorail ridership reached 782,495 trips Wednesday, July 26, the eighth highest weekday ridership in the system’s 30-year history. The high ridership can be attributed to good weather, high gas prices and yesterday’s Washington National’s game. An estimated 21,250 people rode Metrorail to the game.
Typical weekday ridership sees about 700,000 customers taking trips on Metrorail and 460,000 taking trips on Metrobus. Combined, Metro provided about 1.2 million trips last Friday.
