Metrorail records seventh highest ridership
Metrorail ridership reached 783,374 trips Thursday, July 27, the seventh highest weekday ridership in the system’s 30-year history and the second high ridership day in a row. Ridership for Wednesday, July 26, was 782,495 trips.
Thursday’s Washington Nationals and Washington Mystics games contributed to the high ridership. An estimated 14,800 people rode Metrorail to the baseball game and 10,462 to the basketball game.
Typical weekday ridership sees about 700,000 customers taking trips on Metrorail and 460,000 taking trips on Metrobus. Combined, Metro provided about 1.2 million trips yesterday.
