Metro’s Police Chief to Discuss Emergency Preparedness in a Post-9/11 World During Online Chat this Friday

Metro Transit Police Chief Polly Hanson will discuss the importance of emergency preparedness and other security issues during an online chat on Friday, September 8, when he hosts “Metro LunchTalk Online”--a live hour-long chat from noon to 1 p.m. Chief Hanson will answer questions, take suggestions and talk about issues related to Metro’s security measures since the 2001 terrorist attacks.

September is National Preparedness Month, and Chief Hanson believes that Metro riders should do their part in being prepared for an emergency during their transit trips. She will offer suggestions and talk about security enhancements that have been put in place during the five years since the September 11, 2001 attacks.

To log onto the chat visit http://www.wmata.com/chat/chatsList.cfm.

Typically in Metro chats, more questions and comments are received than can be answered in the available time. As many questions as possible will be answered during the hour-long sessions.

An archive of the previous online chats also is posted on the web site. People without Internet access can call Metro’s Customer Service Office at 202-637-1328 to request a transcript.
