Pentagon bus bay reopens

The Pentagon bus bay reopened at 5:55 p.m. after Pentagon officials gave Metro the all-clear to resume bus service.

The bus bay was closed for just over two hours as Pentagon officials investigated a suspicious vehicle discovered around 3:30 p.m. in the south parking lot. Metrobuses that normally traveled to the Pentagon were diverted to Pentagon City.

Metrorail service was not affected during the incident.

Throughout the incident, Metrorail operators made announcements on trains advising riders who transfer to buses at the Pentagon to go to Pentagon City to catch their buses. In addition, the passenger information display signs on Metrorail station platforms notified bus riders about the service disruption.

There are 24 bus bays at the Pentagon, the largest bus transfer station in the Metorbus system that sees 36,000 people each weekday.
