Gulf Coast artists to travel by Metrobus

It’ll be hard not to miss dozens of musicians, dancers and other artists from the Gulf Coast region arriving in the nation’s capital tomorrow morning.

Nearly 50 artists will be boarding two of Metro’s new “Go Green” Compressed Natural Gas buses at Union Station. The buses themselves are a moving piece of art. They are completely covered with images of leafy plants, colorful flowers, a panda, fox and deer.

The artists will perform Saturday at the Kennedy Center’s 22nd Annual Open House Arts Festival which celebrates in story, song and dance the people and places of the Gulf Coast region. They’re arriving in Washington from New Orleans by Amtrak train on a whistle stop performance tour. The buses will pick up the artists after a Union Station performance tomorrow and transport them to their hotel.
