Metro publishes first regional service directory for people with disabilities

Metro has published its first ever regional directory of transportation services available to people with disabilities.

The 36-page “Accessible Transportation Options for Customers with Disabilities” booklet lists more than 40 bus, rail or paratransit services offered in the District of Columbia and suburban Maryland and Virginia. There are descriptions of the service, operating area, fares, eligibility, reservations and other information.

“Today, more people with disabilities than ever before can use regular accessible public transportation services with ease and convenience. This directory will help them coordinate their transportation needs,” said Glenn Millis, Metro’s Americans with Disabilities Act Programs director.

Copies can also be requested by calling 202-962-1100. The guide also can be found at http://www.wmata.com/accessibility/Accessible_Transportation_Options.pdf

Metro’s Office of ADA Programs also offers free individual and group Metro system orientations and provides free trip planning assistance to help people with disabilities learn how to travel on Metrobus and Metrorail.
