Woman Struck and Killed by Train on Red Line

Metrorail riders on the Red Line are experiencing delays after a woman was struck and killed by a train at the Bethesda station around 9:10 a.m.

Eyewitnesses report that the woman jumped in front of the six-car train, which was headed toward Glenmont station. Metro Transit Police and Montgomery County fire and rescue personnel are at the scene.

While the investigation continues, Bethesda station is closed. Trains are sharing one track between the Medical Center and Friendship Heights stations on the Red Line. Customers can expect significant delays in that area. Shuttle buses are available to move customers between the Medical Center and Friendship Heights rail stations.
