Metrobus Operators to Distribute Safety Flasher Lights for Pedestrian Safety

Tomorrow, Metrobus operators will provide a special treat to its patrons as they distribute safety flasher lights on Metrobus routes throughout the region.

The safety flasher lights, which can be clipped to coats or clothing will provide a signal light for early morning and late night bus users, or pedestrians. This will help bus operators and other motorists spot pedestrians who are waiting for a bus in the dark. The red flasher lights also include the message “Look Before You Cross.”

“With winter fast approaching and the sun setting earlier each day, Metro wants to help make bus passengers and pedestrians more visible to motorists and these safety do just that,” said Fred Goodine, Metro’s Assistant General Manager for System Safety and Risk Management. “We encourage our Metrobus riders to use the safety flasher lights and clip them to their clothing. Pedestrian safety is critical to all of us in the region,” said Mr. Goodine.
