Metrorail train strikes woman at Deanwood
Incident appears to be an accident
Preliminary results of a Metro Transit Police investigation indicate that the woman struck by a train at the Deanwood Metrorail station this morning accidently fell onto the tracks. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to gather facts.
Train 908, a six-car Orange Line train headed downtown, struck the 40-year-old District of Columbia resident at 10:26 a.m. She was transported to Prince George’s Hospital Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Trains single-tracked from Cheverly to Minnesota Avenue Metrorail stations to get customers around the incident. The station was temporarily closed from about 10:56 to11:19 a.m. during the investigation.
Regular Orange Line service resumed at 12:48 p.m.
