Orange Line service returns to normal

Man fatally injured

Regular service resumed at 2 p.m. today (August 12) at West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail station, about three hours after a man was fatally struck by a train at 11:18 a.m.

A six-car Orange Line train headed in the direction of New Carrollton struck a male customer who was on the tracks intentionally as the train pulled into the station.

Trains shared one track through the station from 11:18 a.m. until 2 p.m. when trains resumed regular service.
