Metro contractor dies

Incident under investigation

A subcontractor who was installing wiring for a new air compressor at Metro’s Bladensburg Bus Garage in Northeast Washington, died earlier today, August 18. He was working on a Metro project sub-contracted to Jaxson Point Electric.

The preliminary investigation indicated that he was electrocuted.

At about 8:40 a.m., first aid was administered to the man by Metro employees who were working at the garage. He was transported to Washington Hospital Center, where he died.

The incident is under investigation by the Metro Transit Police Department.

“My heart goes out to his family in their time of loss,” said Metro General Manager John Catoe.

The last fatality involving a contractor for Metro occurred in 1992 when an employee was run over by a dump truck.
