MetroAccess offices to relocate to Hyattsville

Upgrades to communication system could cause delays

Metro’s Office of MetroAccess Service will move on Friday, August 28, to new offices in Hyattsville, Md. The office will relocate to 6505 Belcrest Road near the Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail station on the Green Line.

As part of the move, Metro is upgrading the communication system that includes the MetroAccess call center and network that provides real-time information between drivers and dispatchers about trip pickups, drop offs and vehicle locations.

“Our goal is to make this move a seamless transition,” said Selene Faer Dalton-Kumins, Metro’s Director of MetroAccess Services. “However, it is possible that customers might experience delays in service or getting through to the call center if there are technical difficulties during the move.”

Typically, customers can call 301-562-5360 (TTY 301-588-7535) to schedule or cancel a trip, check their ride or speak to a reservations agent.

Dalton-Kumins recommends that MetroAccess customers book or cancel their trips online through either a standard or text-only Web Booking site. Customers can also log into their MetroAccess EZ-Pay account online to prepay fare and check their scheduled trips.

The building on Belcrest Road is approximately two blocks from the Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail station. Metrobus routes C4, F6, F8, R3 and R4, as well as Prince George’s County’s The Bus route 14, stop in front of the building entrance. There also is limited free parking in an adjacent parking lot.

Metro’s Lost & Found and customer call center also are relocating to the new building. The 10-year, $10 million lease with Prince George Center I, Inc., for approximately 40,000 square feet of office space at Belcrest Road is expected to save Metro nearly $6 million over 10 years compared with the renewal rate for the existing office space in Silver Spring.

Metro’s Office of Eligibility Certification will remain at the Metro Transit Accessibility Center at Metro Headquarters in the Jackson Graham Building, First Floor, 600 5th Street, NW.
