Kids Ride Free bus program suspended in Prince George's County

Students should be prepared to pay regular Metrobus fare

Due to budgetary constraints, Prince George’s County has suspended its participation in the Kids Ride Free program, which allowed youngsters to ride free on Metrobuses.

Students in Prince George’s County will no longer ride free on Metrobus between 2 and 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. Students should be prepared to pay regular fare on Metrobus routes in the county. However, Prince George’s County’s TheBus will continue to provide free bus rides to students.

In Montgomery County, the Kids Ride Free program remains in effect through the 2009-2010 school year. Students must show either a school identification card or a student bus pass signed by their school principal to ride free on a Metrobus or on Montgomery County Ride On buses.
