Metro's Lost & Found office to move to Hyattsville

Metro information call center will be closed Saturday, August 29

Metro’s Lost & Found Office will move to new offices in Hyattsville, Md., from Silver Spring, Md., this weekend.

The office will relocate to 6505 Belcrest Road in Hyattsville, near the Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail station on the Green Line. Customers wishing to claim items at Lost & Found should report to the building’s fifth floor beginning Monday, August 31.

The Lost & Found office will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays. To file a report for a lost item, riders should file a report online. Click on the Lost & Found link at the bottom of the home page or go to http://www.wmata.com/about_metro/lost_found/. Riders also may call 202-962-1195 to report a lost item.

Metro’s call center also is moving out of the Silver Spring offices. Telephone numbers and hours of operation will remain the same. For trip planning and information about fares, schedules and parking, riders will continue to call 202-637-7000 or TTY 638-3780. Customer information representatives are available weekdays from 6 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Customers wishing to make suggestions, commendations or comments should continue to call 202-637-1328 on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

However, to complete the move, the customer information call center will not be open on Saturday, August 29. The call center will remain open until 10:30 p.m. on Friday, August 28, and will reopen at 7 a.m. on Sunday, August 30. When the call center is closed on Saturday, callers will hear a recorded message listing alternatives, such as using the Web site for information about trip planning, and bus and train arrival times.

The Belcrest Road property is a short walk from the Prince George’s Plaza Metrorail. Metrobus routes C4, F6, F8, R3 and R4, as well as Prince George’s County’s The Bus route 14, stop in front of the building entrance. There also is limited free parking in an adjacent parking lot.

The 10-year, $10 million lease with Prince George Center I, Inc. for approximately 40,000 square feet of office space at Belcrest Road is expected to save Metro nearly $6 million over 10 years compared with the renewal rate for the existing office space in Silver Spring.
