Metro to briefly halt Red Line service between the Van Ness-UDC and Dupont Circle Metrorail stations

Maintenance staff to secure a loose communications cable

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Red Line service will be stopped between the Van Ness-UDC and Dupont Circle Metrorail stations while personnel secure a loose communications cable hanging from the tunnel ceiling between the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle Metrorail stations.

Metro will have free shuttle buses operating between the Van Ness-UDC and Dupont Circle Metrorail stations while repairs are being made.

Red Line trains operating in the direction of the Glenmont Metrorail station have been operating at reduced speeds between the Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle Metrorail stations since the loose cable was discovered during the morning rush hour. The cable is hanging down over the inbound track. Metro personnel will secure the cable and reattach it to the ceiling.

Metro expects full service to resume on the Red Line by 1:30 p.m.
