Metro readies for 2009 Redskins season

Extra trains available after each home game

Metro is ready to provide the quickest and most convenient route to this season’s Washington Redskins games at FedEx Field.

Football fans using Metro will be able to avoid the expected traffic jams in the area. Metro=s Blue Line takes riders directly to the Morgan Boulevard Metrorail station, less than a mile walk from the stadium.

After each game, Metro will have additional trains available for fans traveling home from the Morgan Boulevard Metrorail station.

Individuals attending Redskins games who park their cars at the Morgan Boulevard (635 parking spaces) or Largo Town Center (2,200 parking spaces) Metrorail stations on the Blue Line will have to pay $25 to park and they must have a SmarTrip card to pay for parking when exiting these facilities. Paid parking at these two stations begins three hours before kickoff, and continues two hours after the game concludes. Weekend parking at other Metrorail stations remains free.

Metro will have additional staff at the Morgan Boulevard Metrorail station to assist customers. Upon entering the Metrorail system, all fans should ensure that they have enough value on their farecards or SmarTrip cards for their round-trip.

As a reminder, Metro does not provide shuttle bus service from the Landover Metrorail station to FedEx Field.
