Metrobus service changes begin September 27
Six bus lines in Maryland and Virginia to see changes
Service changes on select Metrobus lines in Maryland and Virginia will begin on Sunday, September 27.
Maryland
A12 Martin Luther King Jr. Highway Line
On Sundays the running time will be adjusted and all trip times changed. Southbound trips will leave Capital Plaza (Cooper Lane and Annapolis Road) for Capitol Heights Metrorail station via Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metrorail station at 10 minutes past every hour instead of at seven minutes past the hour between 7:10 a.m. and 11:10 p.m., with the first trip of the day leaving at 6:20 a.m. instead of at 6:11 a.m. Northbound trips will leave Capitol Heights Metrorail station for Capital Plaza via Addison Road-Seat Pleasant Metrorail station hourly at 10 minutes past the hour instead of on the hour between 8:10 a.m. and 10:10 p.m. In addition, there will be a new earlier trip leaving Capitol Heights Metrorail station at 7:10 a.m.
Virginia
15K,L Chain Bridge Road Line
To improve transfer connections from Route 15M at Tysons Corner, eastbound 15L trips leaving Tysons Corner at 7:30 and 8:07 a.m. will be adjusted to leave at 7:31 and 8:13 a.m. Eastbound 15K trips leaving Tysons Corner at 3:41, 4:45 and 5:20 p.m. will be adjusted to leave at 3:42, 4:44 and 5:22 p.m.
15M George Mason University - Tysons Corner Line
To improve transfer connections with Routes 15K,L at Tysons Corner, eastbound trips leaving George Mason University at 6:25, 6:52 and 8 a.m., and at 3, 4:03 and 4:48 p.m. will be adjusted to leave at 6:23, 6:51 and 7:57 a.m., and at 2:58, 4 and 4:47 p.m. Westbound trips leaving Tysons Corner at 7:16, 8:26 and 8:56 a.m. will be adjusted to leave at 7:18, 8:29 and 8:59 a.m.
21A Landmark - Pentagon Line
One morning and one afternoon trip will be added to the schedule to reduce overcrowding. Northbound trips to the Pentagon will leave Reynolds and Duke Streets at 6, 6:16, 6:33, 6:51, 7:08, 7:25, 7:42, 7:59, 8:17 and 8:37 a.m. Southbound trips to Reynolds and Duke Streets will leave the Pentagon at 4, 4:20, 4:40, 4:57, 5:14, 5:31, 5:48, 6:05, 6:22, 6:40, 7 and 7:20 p.m.
Also, the afternoon southbound route will be changed in the Landmark loop to operate via Duke Street, right onto South Van Dorn Street, right onto Edsall Road, right onto South Whiting Street, left onto Stevenson Avenue, left onto Yoakum Parkway, left onto Edsall Road and continue the route to Reynolds and Duke Streets. With this change, customers will board and alight at the same stops in the Landmark loop, as the 21A will operate in the same direction in the mornings and afternoons on South Whiting Street, Stevenson Avenue and Yoakum Parkway.
24P Ballston - Pentagon Line
Weekday service will be replaced by Arlington Transit (ART) Route 42
Richmond Highway Express (REX)
Service via the bus stop at Gunston Road and 5th Street in Fort Belvoir will be discontinued for safety reasons. Southbound buses from King Street Metrorail station will operate the present route to Gunston Road and Jackson Loop (north), then left onto Jackson Loop (north) to the terminal stand west of the entrance to Building 1425. Trip times arriving and leaving Fort Belvoir will not change.
