Metro prepares for large crowds for upcoming Washington Capitals season

Extra trains available after each game

Fans who have tickets to see the hottest sports team in town, the Washington Capitals, should choose the coolest alternative in getting to the Verizon Center this season – by taking Metro!

This season Metro will operate extra six-car and eight-car trains on all five lines after each home game and will have additional personnel at the Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail station on the Red, Yellow and Green lines to assist customers.

Upon the conclusion of each home game, fans should use the entire length of the Gallery-Pl Chinatown Metrorail station platforms because all Metrorail trains stop at the front-end of station platforms.

Last season, Metro carried an average 8,500 people to each Capitals game.

With large crowds expected this season at the Gallery Pl-Chinatown Metrorail station 7th and F Street entrance, fans should also consider using the other Gallery Place-Chinatown Metrorail station entrances at 9th and G Street, N.W., and 7th and H Street, N.W., or to use the Judiciary Square Metrorail station at 5th and F Street, N.W.

Upon entering the Metrorail system, all fans should purchase enough value on their farecards or SmarTrip cards to complete their round trips.
