Metro announces weekend rail and bus service changes

Weekend track maintenance on the Orange, Blue and Yellow lines 15 Metrobus routes detoured for weekend activities

Track maintenance on the Orange, Blue and Yellow lines this weekend (Nov. 6-8) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track. Customers should add 30 minutes to their trips. Additionally, 15 Metrobus lines will be detoured as a result of weekend events in the Washington area. Customers using these Metrobus lines should add additional time for their travel.

Orange Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Cheverly and Stadium-Armory Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will replace crossties and conduct maintenance on the aerial structure outside the Stadium-Armory Metrorail station. Trains will share one track between these locations the entire weekend from 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Blue and Yellow Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Braddock Road and Van Dorn Street (Blue Line) and Braddock Road and Huntington (Yellow Line) Metrorail stations should add 30 minutes of travel time for their trips because Metro will be trimming weeds and leaves along the tracks. Trains will share one track between these locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 7, and Sunday, Nov. 8.

All Blue and Yellow Line trains will operate to the Huntington Metrorail station during these times. Metro will operate a special Blue Line shuttle train between the Franconia-Springfield and King Street Metrorail stations. At the King Street Metrorail station, customers will be able to catch a Blue or Yellow Line train to the Largo Town Center or Fort Totten Metrorail stations.

Metrorail customers who park at Franconia-Springfield and Van Dorn Street Metrorail stations should consider parking at the Huntington Metrorail station to avoid the delays. There is no charge for weekend parking.

From 7 p.m., Friday, Nov, 6, to Monday, Nov. 9, at 5 a.m., Metrobus routes 52 V7 will be rerouted due to a roadway construction project that will close D St., SW between 10th and 12th St.

Rerouting of Metrobus Routes 32, 34, 36, 54, 64, 70, A42, A46, A48, P6, S2, S4, V8
