Option to purchase and reload SmarTrip® cards now at more Giant Food stores

Additional locations make it convenient to add value to cards

Customers shopping at select Giant Food stores also can now purchase and add value to their SmarTrip® cards.

In an effort to save customers time and offer added convenience, Metro has installed devices to add value to SmarTrip® cards at 42 additional Giant Food stores. More than 150 local retail outlets are currently available for customers to reload their SmarTrip® cards. Cash, debit or credit cards may be used to add value at these locations.

Giant Food, CVS/pharmacy, transit and other retail stores, which offer customers the in-store ability to add value to SmarTrip® cards, have either a decal at the door or signs announcing their availability. A complete list of stores where customers can purchase and reload their SmarTrip® cards is on Metro’s Web site at http://www.wmata.com/fares/smartrip/smartrip_load.cfm.

Customers also can add value to SmarTrip® cards on all Metrobuses, at Passes/Farecards machines in every Metrorail station, and at 20 transit and independent stores. Riders loading value on Metrobuses can use cash or Metrobus tokens only. Other locations, including fare machines in rail stations, accept cash or credit and debit cards.

SmarTrip® is accepted on Metrobus, Metrorail, in Metro parking facilities, and on ART, CUE, DASH, Ride On, Fairfax Connector, Loudoun County Transit, PRTC OmniRide, The Bus and DC Circulator.
