Giving back: Metrobus employees provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need

West Ox Metrobus Facility to distribute 20 Thanksgiving meals in Arlington, VA

It’s that time of year to be thankful, and to the Metrobus employees at the West Ox Bus Facility in Fairfax County, that means returning the favor to families who need assistance.

Tomorrow morning, Metrobus employees at the West Ox Metrobus garage will assemble, prepare and distribute 20 Thanksgiving meals all with the usual Thanksgiving traditions to families residing in Arlington County, VA.

“This is a wonderful example of our Metrobus employees going above and beyond for the less fortunate in our community,” said Metro Board member Christopher Zimmerman, also an Arlington County Board member.

The distribution of Thanksgiving meals is a long standing tradition to the Metrobus employees at West Ox Bus division. Prior to relocating to Fairfax County, the bus division was located in the Ballston neighborhood of Arlington. Despite the move to a new Metrobus facility, the Metrobus employees have not forgotten the residents of Arlington County.

“It is a pleasure to be able to give back and connect with our community and that is why we continue this longstanding tradition,” said Donna Moore, Superintendent of the West Ox Metrobus Division. “From assembling the turkey dinners and loading them onto a Metrobus, to hand-delivering them to each family, our employees experience first-hand the joy of giving by offering these families the opportunity to enjoy a special meal with their loved ones."
