Metro announces schedule for Christmas
Metrorail to close at midnight on Christmas Day
Metrorail and Metrobus will operate its regular schedule on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24 and a Sunday schedule on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25.
Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24
On Christmas Eve, Metrorail will operate on a weekday schedule, opening at 5 a.m. and closing at midnight. All Metrorail trains will operate with six-cars. Metrobus will operate on a normal weekday schedule. MetroAccess will operate normally.
Christmas Day, Friday, December 25
On Christmas Day, Metrorail will operate on a Sunday schedule, opening at 7 a.m. and closing at midnight. All Metrorail trains will operate with six-cars. Christmas Day ridership is extremely light. Last year about 71,000 people rode the Metrorail system (the highest Christmas ridership in history), compared to an average weekday ridership of 750,000. Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule.
