Metrobus service resumes on most bus routes

Customers may face delays due to road conditions

Metrobus service has resumed on most bus routes throughout the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia, however a handful of routes still remain restricted and customers may still experience some delays depending on the conditions of local roadways.

Several Metrobus routes in the District of Columbia and Maryland continue to operate on snow emergency or alternate routes due to snow and ice that is making it difficult for the buses to maneuver through the neighborhoods. Those routes are C2, G2, J9, K6, U5, U6, V8, W2, W3, W5, W6, W8, Y5, Y7, Y8 and Y9.

Metrobus officials continue to monitor street conditions and stay in touch with local transportation departments to let officials in the local jurisdictions know about any challenges that remain for providing bus service.

Bus riders are advised to continue to be extra cautious when boarding and alighting buses as most bus stops continue to be blocked by mounds of snow.

How to get Updates on Winter Weather Conditions

There are a variety of ways for customers to stay informed about Metro service levels. Metro constantly updates local news media of Metro service changes. Information is also available on Metro’s home page at www.metroopensdoors.com. Customers can also subscribe to receive Metro’s news releases and to receive e-Alerts to get up-to-date service disruption information on Metrorail and MetroAccess. Due to the high volume of calls, waits for a customer service agent at Metro’s Customer Service call center may continue to be longer than usual.
