This month, in addition to the Presidents Day holiday weekend closure of the Rosslyn and Arlington Cemetery Metrorail stations on the Orange and Blue Line, Metro will replace fasteners and weld rail that will help ensure reliable Metrorail service. Customers should expect travel delays during the weekends of Feb. 5 to 7, Feb. 12 to 15, Feb. 19 to 21 and Feb. 26 to Feb. 28.

Friday, Feb. 5, to Sunday, Feb. 7

Red Line -- Metrorail customers traveling between the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time because Metro will replace rail fasteners that stabilize tracks, and make tunnel repairs. Trains will share one track between these locations the entire weekend from 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, to closing (midnight) on Sunday, Feb. 7.

To help expedite rail travel into downtown Washington, every other Red Line train traveling toward the Shady Grove Metrorail station will terminate at the Friendship Heights Metrorail station and will return to the Glenmont Metrorail station.

This portion of work on the Red Line between the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail stations is part of a larger multi-year Red Line rehabilitation project that will run through 2013.

Orange Line -- Metrorail customers traveling between the New Carrollton and Cheverly Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will be welding rail. Trains will share one track between these locations on Saturday, Feb. 6, and Sunday, Feb. 7, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To help expedite rail travel into downtown Washington, every other Orange Line train traveling toward the New Carrollton Metrorail station will terminate at the Cheverly Metrorail station and will return to the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metrorail station.

Blue and Orange Line -- The Rosslyn and Arlington Cemetery Metrorail stations will be closed from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, through closing (midnight) on Monday, Feb. 15., while Metro undertakes a major track rehabilitation project at the Rosslyn Metrorail station throughout the Presidents Day holiday weekend. Normal service will resume on Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 5 a.m.

Throughout the Presidents Day holiday weekend, Orange Line trains will be split in two sections, the first between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and Court House Metrorail stations, and the second between the Foggy Bottom-GWU and New Carrollton Metrorail stations.

Blue Line trains will be split in two sections, the first between the Franconia-Springfield and Pentagon Metrorail stations, and the second between the Foggy Bottom-GWU and Largo Town Center Metrorail stations.

Metro will operate free shuttle buses between the Court House, Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom Metrorail stations and between the Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery, Rosslyn and Foggy Bottom Metrorail stations throughout the President’s Day Holiday weekend.
