Metrobus, MetroAccess service returning to normal operations

Some buses may remain on emergency snow routes, depending on road conditions

Metrobuses and MetroAccess vehicles are returning to normal operations as conditions improve on area roadways. Most Metrobuses are operating on regular routes, except for several routes that continue to operate on emergency snow routes.

Bus routes that are still operating on emergency snow routes include: the D14 in the District of Columbia and the 17G and 17L in Northern Virginia.

Bus officials continue to stay in touch with the local departments of transportation to let officials in the local jurisdictions know where some of the biggest challenges exist for providing bus service in hopes that those areas can be cleared of snow and treated for icy conditions to allow for safe bus passage.

Metro encourages bus riders to be extra cautious when boarding and alighting vehicles as many area sidewalks and roadways remain slippery.

MetroAccess is providing normal service today, however, customers may experience significant delays as road conditions dictate the ability of drivers to maneuver their vehicles on many area side streets and provide door-to-door service.

Metrorail is operating on a normal schedule, however customers are advised to take care around slippery surfaces, such as sidewalks, parking facilities, pathways to Metrorail stations, outdoor station platforms and transfer points between Metrobus and Metrorail.

In addition, Metrorail station escalators and elevators that are exposed to outdoor elements may be icy and slippery and should be used with caution.

Metro employees will continue to clear ice and snow from station entrances and parking facilities and treat any slippery surfaces throughout the day.
