More than 300 Metrobuses operating as of 11 a.m. Tuesday

New snow storm likely to limit afternoon, evening service

More than 300 Metrobuses on 98 bus routes are operating as of 11 a.m. today, Feb. 9, as Metro prepares for another onslaught of winter weather this afternoon and into tomorrow.

While expanded Metrobus service is currently available, customers should keep in mind that the coming snow storm is likely to reduce service as road conditions deteriorate.

“All Metrobus routes are subject to change depending on road conditions,” said Christian T. Bus officials continue to stay in touch with the local departments of transportation to let officials in the local jurisdictions know where some of the biggest challenges exist for providing bus service in hopes that those areas can be cleared of snow and treated for icy conditions to allow for safe bus passage.

Metro encourages bus riders to be extra cautious when boarding and alighting vehicles as many area sidewalks and roadways remain slippery.

Local jurisdictions are responsible for clearing bus stops. Local residents can help their neighbors by shoveling the bus stops along the sidewalks near their homes so that people are not standing in the icy streets while traffic is passing.
