Jack Requa appointed Metro's Assistant General Manager of Bus Services


Veteran transit official has more than 30 years of experience

The Metro Board of Directors has appointed veteran transit official Jack Requa the Assistant General Manager of Bus Services. Requa began reporting to General Manager John Catoe effective Monday, March 1.

Requa, 63, previously served as Metro’s Chief Operating Officer of Metrobus, Acting General Manager and Assistant General Manager of Operations Services. He has more than 30 years of experience in the transit industry.

As the head of Bus Services, Requa is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the sixth largest bus system in the United States. The Metrobus fleet is made up of more than 1,500 buses that serve more than 360 bus routes and 12,000 bus stops across 1,500 square miles. Requa is responsible for the overall planning, operation, parts distribution and maintenance programs of Metrobus services.

Before coming to Washington, Requa was the Director of Bus Service for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority in Boston. In addition he has held senior management positions with transit authorities in Houston, St. Louis, Everett, WA, and Saudi Arabia. Requa earned a degree in business from Western Washington University. He currently resides in Vienna, Va.
