Metro announces weekend rail service changes

Weekend track maintenance on the Orange Line

Track maintenance on the Orange Line this weekend (March 5-7) will cause inbound and outbound trains to take turns sharing one track. Customers should add 30 minutes to their trips.

Orange Line Track Maintenance

Metrorail customers traveling between the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro will be welding new rail on the tracks. Trains will share one track between these locations on Saturday, March 6, and Sunday, March 7, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

To help expedite rail travel into downtown Washington, every other Orange Line train traveling toward the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU Metrorail station will terminate at the West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail station and will return to the New Carrollton Metrorail station.
