New Metrobus service changes to begin March 28


15 Metrobus routes to change in District of Columbia, Maryland, Virginia

Service changes on select Metrobus routes in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia will begin Sunday, March 28.

District of Columbia

Buses will resume regular routing to serve stops near the L’Enfant Plaza Metrorail station following the completion of the new Constitution Center at 7th and D Streets, SW. Scheduled trip times and running times will not change.

5A Dulles Airport Line

Eastbound route 5A buses will follow the regular route to D and 7th Streets, SW, and then continue via D Street to the terminal stand on the south side of D Street, SW, east of 7th Street. Westbound route 5A buses will begin at that terminal stand, then continue via D Street, right on 6th Street, right on E Street, right on 7th Street, left on D Street and will then follow the regular route. In addition to the terminal stand, westbound 5A buses will also serve a stop on the north side of E Street, SW, east of 7th Street. This route change will apply daily.

Weekend route 5A buses will no longer serve the stop at 7th Street and Maryland Avenue, SW.

52 , 54 14th Street Line

Southbound route 52 buses will follow the regular route to D and 7th Streets, SW, and then continue via D Street to the terminal stand on the south side of D Street, SW, east of 7th Street. Northbound route 52 buses will begin at that terminal stand, then continue via D Street, right on 6th Street, right on E Street, right on 7th Street, left on D Street and will then follow the regular route.

Southbound route 54 buses will follow the regular route to 7th Street and Independence Avenue, SW, continue via 7th Street, left on D Street to the terminal stand on the south side of D Street, SW, east of 7th Street. Northbound buses will begin at that terminal stand, then continue via D Street, right on 6th Street, right on E Street, right on 7th Street to D Street, then continue on 7th Street to the regular route.

In addition to the terminal stand, northbound routes 52 and 54 buses will also serve a stop on the north side of E Street SW, east of 7th Street.

70,71 Georgia Avenue – 7th Street Line

The bus stop on the east side of 7th Street, SW, north of E Street will be restored. There will be no change to routes 70 and 71 buses.

A9 South Capitol Street Line

Northbound route A9 buses will follow the regular route to 7th and E Streets, SW, then continue via 7th Street to the terminal stand on the east side of 7th Street, SW, north of E Street. There will be no change to southbound buses.

V5, Fairfax Village - L’Enfant Plaza Line

Northbound route V5 buses will follow the regular route to the Southwest Freeway exit, to 6th and 7th Streets, SW, then continue right on 7th Street to the terminal stand on the east side of 7th Street, SW, north of E Street. There will be no change to southbound buses.

V7, V8, V9 Minnesota Avenue - M Street Line

Westbound route V7 and V9 buses will follow regular route to 7th and E Streets, SW, then continue via 7th Street, left on D Street and will then continue the regular route. Westbound route V8 buses will follow the regular route to 7th and E Streets, SW, then continue via 7th Street to D Street, then continue on 7th Street and regular route. There will be no change to southbound V7, V8 and V9 buses. The bus stop on the east side of 7th Street, SW, north of E Street will be restored.

Maryland

C2 Greenbelt - Twinbrook Line

Late Saturday evening C2 bus service will be extended to operate over the C4 routing via Veirs Mill Road and Randolph Road as far as Randolph Road and Lauderdale Drive opposite Loehmann's Plaza. Most trips will have a sign indicating “Veirs Mill and Randolph.”

Q2 Veirs Mill Road Line

The last northbound trip on Friday and Saturday nights, from Silver Spring Station to Veirs Mill Road and Randolph Road only, will be renumbered from Q2 to Q4.

R4 Queens Chapel Road Line

The Saturday and Sunday route R4 schedule will change to reflect current traffic conditions. For most of the day the weekend frequency will change from every 60 minutes intervals to every 70 minutes on Saturday and every 65 minutes on Sunday.

Virginia

7A Lincolnia-North Fairlington Line

Sunday southbound route 7A buses leaving the Pentagon Transit Center at 10 p.m. and 12:10 a.m. will be adjusted to leave at 10:02 p.m. and 12:12 a.m. to improve coordination with Blue and Yellow Line trains. Northbound buses leaving Lincolnia Road and Quantrell Avenue at 10:25 p.m. and 12:34 a.m. will be adjusted to leave at 10:27 p.m. and 12:36 a.m.

16A,B,E only Columbia Pike Line

The following late evening westbound trips leaving the Pentagon Transit Center will be adjusted to improve coordination with Blue and Yellow Line trains:

Weekday 16A and 16B buses leaving at 10, 10:20, 10:40 and 11 p.m. will be adjusted to leave at 10:01, 10:21, 10:41 and 11:01 p.m.

Saturday 16E buses leaving at 11:20 and 11:40 p.m., 12, 1:05 and 1:35 a.m. will be adjusted to leave at 11:21 and 11:41 p.m., 12:01, 1:09 and 1:41 a.m.

Sunday 16E buses leaving at 10, 10:20, 10:40 and 11 p.m. will be adjusted to leave at 10:01, 10:21, 10:41 and 11:01 p.m.

21A, NEW 21D Landmark- Pentagon Line

Three morning and three evening trips will be extended via Stevenson Avenue west of Yoakum Parkway to serve the Landmark Mews development. These trips will be designated as route 21D and will be scheduled as follows:
Northbound route 21A buses leaving Reynolds and Duke Streets at 6:51, 7:59 and 8:17 a.m. will leave three minutes earlier as route 21D buses and will operate via Stevenson Avenue west of Yoakum Parkway to Landmark Mews, u-turn at end of Stevenson Avenue and return via eastbound Stevenson Avenue, right on Yoakum Parkway and continue the regular 21A route to the Pentagon.

Southbound buses leaving the Pentagon Transit Center at 4:57 and 6:22 p.m. will be adjusted to leave at 4:56 and 6:23 p.m. Buses leaving at 4:56, 5:31 and 6:05 p.m. will operate as route 21D serving Landmark Mews via Stevenson Avenue west of Yoakum Parkway, u-turn at the end of Stevenson Avenue and return via eastbound Stevenson Avenue, right on Yoakum Parkway and continue the regular 21A route to Reynolds and Duke Streets.

25A Ballston - Bradlee - Pentagon Line

The westbound route 25A bus arriving at Ballston-MU Metrorail station will change to operate via eastbound Fairfax Drive, right on Randolph Street, right 9th Street, right Stuart Street to the terminal stand. Trip times arriving at Ballston will be adjusted one minute later as a result of this change.

25B Landmark - Ballston Line

The northbound route 25B arriving at Ballston-MU Metrorail station will change to operate via eastbound Fairfax Drive, right on Randolph Street, right on 9th Street and right on Stuart Street to the terminal stand. Trip times arriving at Ballston will be adjusted one minute later as a result of this change.

28X Alexandria - Tysons Corner Line

A new westbound bus will be added to leave Columbia Pike and Carlin Springs Road (Baileys Crossroads) at 5:54 a.m. to Tysons Corner.

New eastbound buses will be added to leave Tysons Corner at 5:45 and 6:15 p.m. to Columbia Pike and Carlin Springs Road (Baileys Crossroads).
