Pentagon City Metrorail station reopens

Police cleared suspicious package,telephone threat

The Pentagon City Metrorail station (Blue, Yellow Lines) reopened at 7:40 p.m., after being closed for two hours to allow Metro Transit Police to investigate a suspicious package and telephone bomb threat. Once the station was swept and the package deemed not to be harmful, the station reopened.

During the station closure, one dozen shuttle buses helped move people around the closure, but delays were extensive along the entire Blue and Yellow Lines. Residual delays are expected for an additional hour.
The Yellow Line was temporarily split into two segments and operated from Huntington to Crystal City Metrorail stations and from Pentagon to Fort Totten Metrorail stations. The Blue Line was operating from Franconia-Springfield to Crystal City Metrorail stations and from Pentagon to Largo Town Center Metrorail stations.

The incident began at 5:32 p.m.
