Both tracks back in service at Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metrorail Station


Regular service resumes through station, residual delays expected until 4 p.m.

Train service along both tracks at the Mt. Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metrorail station resumed at 3:45 p.m., after a woman who is believed to have placed herself in the path of an oncoming train was struck at 1:18 p.m. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital.

The station was temporarily closed from the time of the incident until about 2:25 p.m., at which time trains began to share one track (single-tracking) through the station. There were significant delays on the Yellow and Green Lines during the afternoon while the station was closed and while trains were single-tracking.

The six-car train involved in the incident was headed in the direction of Branch Avenue.
