Metrobus detours April 23-25


Regional events to temporarily affect Metrobus service on nine routes

Events and construction in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia will temporarily affect Metrobus service on nine routes through Sunday (April 25).

Metrobuses will detour around partial street closures on routes 9S, 23A, 80, 96, 10A, 10B, Q1 and 42, and shift lanes on Route L2.

Locations and times of service interference:

• Routes 9S and 23A – northbound Crystal Drive between 12th and 27th streets in Crystal City, Va. will be closed from about 5:30 to 9 p.m. today (April) for the Crystal Run 5k.

• Route 80 – 18th, 19th and 20th streets between Pennsylvania Avenue and F Street in the District of Columbia will be closed from 8 p.m. today (April 23) until 8 p.m. Sunday (April 25) for the International Monetary Fund / World Bank spring meetings.

• Route 96 – East Capitol Street between 2nd and 3rd streets in the District of Columbia will be closed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (April 25) for the Folger Shakespeare Library’s Shakespeare Birthday Open House.

• Routes 10A and 10B – George Washington Parkway between Mount Vernon Estate and Franklin Street in Alexandria, Va., will be closed from 7 to 10 a.m. Sunday (April 25) for the George Washington Parkway Classic 10 miler/5k.

• Route Q1 – Route 335 will be closed between Redland Road and Nicholson Lane in Rockville, Md., from 8 to 11 a.m. for the Pike’s Peek 10k.

• Route 42 – southbound 17th Street between H and Eye streets will be closed in the District of Columbia from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (April 24) due to construction. Northbound traffic will reroute to westbound H Street

• Route L2 – northbound Connecticut Avenue between Macomb Street and Devonshire Place in the District of Columbia will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday (April 24) due to construction. Traffic will shift to southbound lanes.

Metrobus customers can use the Next Bus information service to find out when buses will arrive at a given stop, by logging onto Metro’s Web site or calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.”
