This weekend's Orange, Blue Line track work cancelled

Red Line work continues, expect delays

Orange and Blue Line riders should expect normal service along both lines this weekend as track work originally scheduled to take place this weekend has been cancelled. It will be rescheduled for a later date.

A track switch was scheduled to be replaced at the Rosslyn Metrorail station, which serves both the Orange and Blue Lines. A switch is an intersection of the track, where trains can “switch” from one track to another, depending on their destination and route.

This weekend’s scheduled work along the Red Line will continue as planned.

Metrorail customers traveling between the Medical Center and Friendship Heights Metrorail stations should expect lengthy delays this weekend and should add at least 30 minutes to their travel time because Metro is replacing old rail fasteners with new ones to stabilize tracks in that area of the Red Line. Trains are sharing one track between these locations through closing (midnight) on Sunday, April 25.

Additionally, Metrorail customers traveling between the New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U and Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail stations should add at least 20 minutes to their travel time because Metro is conducting maintenance on a portion of elevated tracks that cross a bridge outside the Rhode Island Ave-Brentwood Metrorail station. Trains are sharing one track between these locations the entire weekend through closing (midnight) on Sunday, April 25.

Throughout the remainder of the weekend all Red Line trains will depart approximately every 30 minutes from the Shady Grove and Glenmont Metrorail stations. Trains departing the Shady Grove Metrorail station will leave approximately at one minute, and 31 minutes past the hour. Trains departing the Glenmont Metrorail station will leave approximately at seven minutes, and 37 minutes past the hour. For people traveling between the Friendship Heights and New York Ave-Florida Ave-Gallaudet U Metrorail stations, trains will operate approximately every 15 minutes.
