Major delays on Red Line due to fire, track problems near Dupont Circle


Trains sharing one track between Dupont Circle, Van Ness-UDC

Customers traveling on the Red Line can expect major delays this afternoon while personnel work to extinguish an arcing insulator near Dupont Circle Metrorail station and resolve a track circuit issue at Farragut North Metrorail station.

A train operator first reported the arcing insulator at about 1:30 p.m. today on the outbound track between Dupont Circle and Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan Metrorail stations in the direction of Shady Grove.

Red Line trains currently are sharing one track between Dupont Circle and Van Ness-UDC Metrorail stations. Red Line trains are being turned back at various locations throughout the Metrorail system to help minimize delays.
