Metrobus line to be discussed at public forum

Metro announces open meeting to discuss issues, improvements to K6 line

Metro will have a public meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday (May 12) in Hyattsville, Md., to discuss the Metrobus K6-New Hampshire Avenue Line study. The meeting will be at the Langley Park Recreation Center, 1500 Merrimac Drive, in Hyattsville.

No registration is required to attend the meeting, and Spanish translators and visual materials in Spanish will be available. The forum will begin with an open house, followed by a formal presentation. At 7:20 p.m. there will be group discussions to identify issues with the K6 Line.

The meeting is part of the K6 Line study public outreach. The study team is seeking input from riders, businesses and the local community to help improve the line.

In April, Metro distributed 3,000 surveys to K6 riders and launched a Web site at www.metrobus-studies.com to provide information about the study.

Along with the public, Metro is partnering in the study with the District Department of Transportation, Maryland Department of Transportation, Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation, Montgomery County Department of Transportation, and the City of Takoma Park, Md.

The K6 route extends between White Oak Shopping Center and Fort Totten Metrorail Station in Maryland. The line averages about 7,000 passengers on weekdays.
