Eighteen Metrobus routes to detour this weekend


Regional events cause Metrobuses to re-route May 8, 9

Eighteen Metrobus routes in the District of Columbia and Arlington, Va., will experience detours Saturday (May 8) and Sunday (May 9) due to regional events and construction.

On Saturday in the District of Columbia:

Routes A6 and W4 will detour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. around Alabama Avenue, between M.L. King, Jr. Avenue and Randle Place, due to the Annual Congress Heights Day Festival.

Routes 92, A2, A4, A6, A8, W2, W3 and W4 will detour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. around Alabama Avenue, Congress Street, 7th Street, M.L. King, Jr. Avenue, 4th Street, Savannah Street and 6th Street due to the Annual Congress Heights Day Parade.

Routes 32, 34, 36, 96 and D6 will detour from 8 to11 a.m. around 3rd Street, NW, between 5th and 6th Streets, due to the National Police Week 5k.

Route D6 will detour from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. around 20th Street, NW, between New Hampshire Avenue and O Street, due to heavy construction.

On Sunday in Arlington:

Routes 5A and 7A will detour from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. around westbound Wilson Boulevard, between N. Lynn Street and Route 110, and around Washington Boulevard, between I-395 and Memorial Bridge, due to the Arlington Half Marathon. From 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. the marathon will cause Metrobus detours around northbound Route 110, between Crystal City and N. Lynn Street.

Metrobus customers can use the Next Bus information service to find out when buses will arrive at a given stop, by logging onto Metro’s Web site or calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.”
