Metrobuses detour on 29 routes this weekend


Events force Metrobuses to temporarily re-route May 20-23 in the District of Columbia

Metrobus customers will experience detours at various times on 29 routes from Thursday (May 20) to Sunday (May 23) in the District of Columbia due to the District 6 Beat the Streets Initiative, 5th Annual National Asian Heritage Festival, Bike D.C. 2010 and construction projects.

Route 5A will detour from 7 p.m. Thursday to 7 a.m. Friday (May 21) around Southwest Freeway and the 12th Street Tunnel due to construction.

Route U6 will detour from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday around Brooks Street and Banks Place, N.E., due to the District 6 Beat the Streets Initiative.

Routes 32, 34, 36 and P6 will detour from 2 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday (May 22) around Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., between 3rd and 7th streets, due to the 5th Annual National Asian Heritage Festival.

Routes H2 and H4 will detour from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday around Michigan Avenue, N.W., between 1st and Wader streets due to construction.

Routes 3A, 3E, 5A, 7A, 13F, 13G, 16G, 16K, 23A, 32, 34, 36, 38B, 54, 64,
70, 80, A42, A44, A46, D6, P6, S2, S4 and V8 will detour at various times from 5:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday around 15th Street, N.W., between Constitution and Pennsylvania avenues due to Bike D.C. 2010. The event will also force Metrobus detours around Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., between 7th and 14th streets.

Metrobus service operations managers will monitor the events and adjust schedules as necessary.

Metrobus customers can use the Next Bus information service to find out when buses will arrive at a given stop, by logging onto Metro’s Web site or calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.”
