Dulles Metrorail Project holiday weekend construction work completed successfully


Orange Line service restored between West Falls Church and East Falls Church

The Memorial Day Holiday weekend Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project work on the Orange Line, that had resulted in the disruption of rail service between the West Falls Church-VT/UVA and East Falls Church Metrorail stations was completed successfully and service between the two stations resumed at 5 a.m., Tuesday morning, June 1.

The free shuttle buses were busy throughout the holiday weekend with buses filling up as trains emptied at the West Falls Church-VT/UVA and East Falls Church Metrorail stations. Throughout the weekend, 36,324 people used the shuttle buses to help complete their trips.

Metro administrative employees along with Metro Transit Police officers had been on site guiding customers from the rail platforms to the shuttle buses to assist them in completing their trips.

The Dulles Corridor Metrorail project will continue this weekend with no train service between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church-VT/UVA Metrorail stations on Saturday, June 5, and Sunday, June 6. Metro will operate free shuttle bus service between the two stations. The West Falls Church-VT/UVA and East Falls Church Metrorail stations will remain open.
