Metro extends Capital Budget, Capital Improvement comment period


June 14 new deadline to send comments about proposed improvement projects

Metro has extended the public comment period for its June 2 public hearing on its Capital Budget and Capital Improvement Program until 5 p.m. Monday, June 14.

Comments should be sent to the Office of the Secretary and may be emailed to writtentestimony@wmata.com. Remarks may also be mailed to the Office of the Secretary, Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, 600 Fifth Street NW, Washington, DC 20001. Alternatively, statements may be faxed to 202-962-1133. Please reference Hearing 10-3 and/or Docket 554 in your submission.

Hard copies of the public hearing docket are available through Monday, June 14, for individuals who do not have Internet access to review between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except holidays, at the Office of the Secretary

During the hearing, Metro staff discussed proposed projects for its FY2011 Capital Improvement Program, which is expected to total $709.3 million. Projects include replacing the 1000 series rail cars; replacing and rehabilitating old buses and bus garages; and rehabilitating the Red Line between Dupont Circle and Silver Spring Metrorail stations, and the Blue/Yellow/Orange lines between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Stadium-Armory Metrorail stations.
