McPherson Square Metrorail station reopened

Initial investigation indicates smoking debris from trackbed light fixture

The McPherson Square Metrorail station on the Blue and Orange lines reopened at 7:51 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 9, after it was closed at 7:19 a.m. due to smoke in the station.

Preliminary reports indicate there was smoking debris along a light fixture between the tracks. Power to light fixture on the trackbed was temporarily disconnected and the smoke stopped.

No injuries were reported.
