Metrobus operators get new summer uniforms

Polo shirts, shorts highlight uniform options

Metrobus operator new summer uniformMetrobus operators can report for duty in new uniforms this summer that feature polo shirts, and cargo shorts and pants.

Metro officials approved wear of the optional, summer-friendly uniforms from June 7 to Sept. 26. The new pants and shorts are navy blue with cargo pockets along the sides. The polo shirts are light blue with short sleeves.

Operators who choose to wear the new uniform must purchase it from Metro’s authorized uniform supplier and adhere to current operator appearance standards, including tucked shirt tails.

“We require that our operators present a professional image to the public,” said Jack Requa, assistant general manager of Bus Services. “This new uniform option provides our drivers more comfort as the days get hotter, while maintaining a distinctive appearance.”

The new uniform option resulted from discussions between Metrobus officials, operators and union representatives.
