Forest Glen Metrorail station temporarily closed due to storm-related power outage

Storm knocks out power to station; trains passing through without stopping; shuttle buses in service

The Forest Glen Metrorail station on the Red Line is temporarily closed as the station’s six high-speed elevators are out of service due to a power outage as a result of this afternoon’s thunderstorms. Metro is operating free shuttle bus service between the Silver Spring and Wheaton Metrorail stations. Trains are passing through the station without stopping.

The station’s elevators went out of service at about 3:15 p.m. Metro personnel are on the scene to restore power. The Forest Glen Metrorail station has no staircases or escalators. The only way to access the station is via elevator.

The station will reopen when power is restored.

Please keep in mind that a full train carries hundreds of passengers while a shuttle bus carries only 50 people.
