Grosvenor station temporarily closed, major delays

Man on tracks; first responders on scene

The Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail station is temporarily closed with no trains permitted to pass through the station due to a man on the tracks. Red Line riders should expect major delays on the line of at least an hour.

The preliminary report is that a man jumped onto the tracks at about 6:10 p.m. and died of his injuries. He was not struck by a train.

Shuttle buses are at the scene moving customers around the incident, however a shuttle bus can only carry 50 riders and a full train carries close to 1,000 riders, so customers should expect long waits for the buses.
