Major delays on Red Line

Trains single-tracking through Grosvenor-Strathmore station

Red Line riders can expect major delays this evening (June 28) while trains take turns sharing one track through the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail station after a man jumped onto the tracks and died, according to preliminary reports. He was not struck by a train. The incident happened at about 6:10 p.m.

The station reopened at about 7:05 p.m., with trains single-tracking between the Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore Metrorail stations, however Red Line riders should expect major delays on the line of at least an hour. Shuttle buses are at the scene moving customers around the incident, however a shuttle bus can only carry 50 riders and a full eight-car train carries close to 1,000 riders, so customers should expect long waits for the buses.
