Columbia Heights Metrorail station remains temporarily closed
Officials investigating report of a suspicious package
The Columbia Heights Metrorail station on the Yellow and Green Lines was temporarily closed at 2:15 p.m. today, June 30, to allow law enforcement officials to investigate a report of a suspicious package near the station entrance at 14th and Irving Streets, NW.
Yellow and Green Line trains currently are passing through the station but are not stopping.
Due to the security perimeter that has been established outside the Columbia Heights Metrorail station, Metro is not able to provide shuttle bus service in the immediate area.
Customers are encouraged to walk to nearby bus service at the following locations:
• 16th and Irving Streets, NW, to board Metrobus routes S2 and S4 toward Silver Spring Metrorail station or downtown;
• 13th and Irving Streets, NW, to board Metrobus routes 52, 53 and 54 toward Takoma Metrorail station or downtown;
• 14th and Harvard Streets, NW, to board Metrobus routes H2 and H4 toward Brookland-CUA Metrorail station or downtown; and
• 14th and Harvard Streets, NW, to board Metrobus route H8 toward Georgia Ave-Petworth Metrorail station or downtown.
Customers should keep in mind that buses only can carry about 50 passengers at a time while a train can carry hundreds of riders, so customers should expect long waits for the buses.
