Metrobuses to detour on dozens of routes this weekend


Celebrations, parades force Metrobuses to temporarily re-route on July 4

Metrobus customers will experience detours on 26 routes Sunday, July 4, in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia due to Independence Day events.

District of Columbia
Routes 5A, 13F, 13G, 32, 34, 36, 52, 54, 63, 64, 70, A42, A46, A48, P6, S2, S4 and V8 will detour from 6 a.m. until midnight at the National Mall between Third and 23rd streets for Independence Day activities on the Mall.

Routes 34, 70, 64, A42, A46, A48, S2, S4 and V8 will detour from 7:30 to 11:15 a.m. at Constitution Avenue, NW between Seventh and Ninth streets due to the National Archives July 4th Celebration.

Routes 5A, 64, S2 and S4 will detour from noon to 3 p.m. at Constitution Avenue, NW between Third and 23rd streets due the National Capitol Independence Day Parade.

Route D6 will detour from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at MacArthur Boulevard, NW between Whitehaven Parkway and Arizona Avenue due the Palisades 42nd Annual 4th of July Parade.

Maryland
Route F4 will detour from 9 a.m. to noon at Carroll Avenue between Ethan Allen and Maple avenues in Takoma due to the Takoma Park Annual Independence Day Celebration and Parade.

Virginia
Routes 7A and 7F will detour from 9 a.m. to noon at Abington Street between 29th Street and Interstate 395 in Arlington due to the Fairlington Village’s Annual 4th of July Parade.

Routes 4H, 7A, 16B, 16G and 16J in Arlington will detour around streets leading to and overlooking the National Mall from 1 p.m. until the end of firework displays on the National Mall.

Metrobus service operations managers will monitor the events and adjust schedules as necessary.
