Metrobuses to detour on 15 routes this weekend


Regional events force Metrobuses to temporarily re-route July 17

Metrobus customers will experience detours on 15 routes Saturday, July 17, in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia due to regional events.

District of Columbia
Routes 32, 34, 36, 54, 64, 70, 96, D6, P6, S2, S4 and V8 will detour from 6 to 10 a.m. at F Street, NW between 12th and 13th streets due to the National Press Club 5K.

Routes 32 and 36 will follow their regular routes between Friendship Heights station and 15th and G Street, NW. At 15th and G Street, NW the buses will detour, using G Street, NW between 15th and 11th Streets, NW; E Street between 11th and North Capitol Street; Massachusetts Avenue between Union Station and 8th Street NE; and 8th Street NE to Pennsylvania Avenue SE, where they will resume their regular routes.

Route 34 will detour onto E Street between 11th and North Capitol streets; Massachusetts Avenue between Union Station and 8th Street, NE; and 8th Street, NE to Pennsylvania Avenue, SE, where it will resume its regular route.

Route 54 will follow its regular route between Takoma Station and 14th and G streets, NW. East and south of 14th and G streets, NW, the 54 will detour onto on E Street, the Southeast/Southwest Freeway, and 6th Street, SW, to L’Enfant Plaza station.

Route 70 will follow its regular route between Silver Spring Station and 7th and E streets, NW. South of 7th and E Streets, NW Route 70 will follow E Street, NW to the 3rd Street tunnel and the Southwest Freeway to 7th Street, SW, where it will resume its regular route.

Route 96, between East Capitol and 8th streets, NE and Columbus Circle and E Street, NE will use 8th Street, NE; Massachusetts Avenue, NE; 4th Street, NE eastbound; 6th Street, NE westbound; and C Street, NE. East and west of these intersections, route 96 will use its regular route.

Route P6 will detour from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 5th Street, NW between H and Eye streets due to the Gospel Rescue Ministries Summerfest. Route P6 will follow its regular route north of 11th and E streets, NW and south of C and 4th streets, SW. Between these points, Route P6 will detour onto E Street, NW, the Southeast/Southwest Freeway, and 6th Street, SW.

Route 64 will detour from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 11th Street, NW between T and U streets due to a neighborhood dedication ceremony.

Maryland
Route C14 will detour from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Curtis Drive from Branch Avenue and throughout the Carriage Hill Apartment complex in Hillcrest Heights due to the apartment’s community day. The event was rescheduled from July 10.

Virginia
Route 10B and 23A will detour from 1 to 10 p.m. at Kenmore Street between 22nd Street and Shirlington Road in Arlington due to the Nauck Summer in the Parks.

Metrobus service operations managers will monitor the events and adjust schedules as necessary.

Metrobus customers can use the Next Bus information service to find out when buses will arrive at a given stop, by logging onto Metro’s website or calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.”
