Metro adjusts Metrobus service as District of Columbia schools reopen
Annual changes to lines, routes made to improve service for students
With Washington, D.C. schools reopening next week, Metro is adjusting Metrobus service starting Monday, Aug. 23, on several lines to accommodate public and charter school students who use Metrobus.
Service adjustments include:
Park Road - Brookland Line (Routes H8, H9)
• The weekday 2:15 and 4:15 p.m. trips on westbound Route H8 from Rock Creek Church Road and Upshur Street, N.W., will be discontinued.
• Route H8 westbound from Rhode Island Avenue-Brentwood Metrorail station will now leave at 12:33 p.m. on Carroll High School early dismissal days.
• Route H9 eastbound from Carroll High School will depart at 12:45 p.m. on the school’s early dismissal days.
Takoma - Fort Totten Line (Route K2)
The northbound 7:55 a.m. trip from Fort Totten Metrorail station and the southbound 4:07 p.m. trip leaving Takoma Metrorail station will be discontinued.
McKinley High School Line (Route M31)
The 3:55 p.m. trip from McKinley High School will now leave at 4:10 p.m.
Mayfair-Marshall Heights Line (Route U6)
The trips leaving 37th Street and Ridge Road, S.E., at 8:01 and 8:21 a.m. will leave at 8:11 and 8:31 a.m.
Wilson High School Line (Routes W45, W47)
• Route W45 westbound will be changed to go to the intersection of Nebraska and Connecticut avenues, N.W.; then left on Connecticut Avenue; and right on Veazey Terrace before continuing to Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station.
• Route W45 eastbound will be changed to begin at Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station; then go left on Connecticut Avenue, N.W.; and right on Nebraska Avenue before continuing the regular route.
• Route W47 eastbound will be changed to begin at Van Ness-UDC Metrorail station; then go right on Connecticut Avenue, N.W.; and left on Porter Street before continuing the regular route.
Benning Road - H Street Line (Route X2)
• An eastbound trip will be added that leaves Spingarn High School at 3:45 p.m. going to Minnesota Avenue Metrorail station on school days only.
• The trips leaving Benning Road and 19th Street, N.E., at 4:10, 4:20, 4:25 and 4:30 p.m. weekdays, except Wednesdays, will be changed to leave at 3:40, 3:50, 3:55 and 4 p.m. respectively.
• The trips leaving Benning Road and 19th Street, N.E., at 2:40, 2:45 and 2:50 p.m. on Wednesdays will be changed to leave at 1:40, 1:45 and 1:50 p.m. respectively.
Metrobus customers can find complete Metrobus information by logging onto Metro’s website at metropensdoor.com or by calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.” The route changes resulting from school reopenings should be updated in the NextBus system by mid-September.
