Metrobuses detour from several routes this weekend


Area activities cause temporary rerouting

Metrobuses will detour from several routes on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 2-3, in the District of Columbia and Virginia due to various events.

The following routes will be affected:

Saturday
Routes 32 and 36 will detour from 3 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, in the District of Columbia due to 24th annual AIDS Walk activities. Buses will travel on F Street, NW, instead of Pennsylvania Avenue between 11th and 15th streets.

Routes 32, 34, 36, 54, 64, 70, P6, S2, S4 and V8 will detour from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 13th and 14th streets in the District of Columbia due to the 24th annual AIDS Walk. Routes 32, 34 and 36 will use F Street, NW, between 11th and 15th streets; E Street between 11th and Third streets, NW; and Constitution Avenue between First and Third streets. Route 54 will use E Street between Third and 11th streets, NW. Route 70 will detour off Seventh Street to Sixth Street south of D Street. Route P6 will detour at Virginia Avenue and Sixth Street, SE, and use Pennsylvania, Independence and Constitution avenues to Third Street and E Street, NW, between Third and 11th Streets, NW.

Route 63 will detour from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. from 13th Street, NW, and use 11th Street between K and L streets in the District of Columbia due to the Leonard “Bud” Dogget Fire Station Dedication Ceremony.

Routes 10B and 23A will detour from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. at S. Randolph Street between Quincy Street and Arlington Mill Road in Arlington, Va., due to the Oktoberfest in the Village of Shirlington.

Routes 10A and 10B will detour from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Mount Vernon Avenue between E. Bellefonte and E. Hume avenues and use Monroe and Commonwealth in Alexandria, Va., due to the Del Ray Community’s “Arts on the Avenue.”

Routes 13B and 13F will detour starting at 6 a.m. at westbound Constitution Avenue, NW, between 14th and 23rd streets in the District of Columbia due to One Nation Working Together Rally.

Sunday
Routes 32 and 36 will detour from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, between 12th and14th streets in the District of Columbia due to the eighth annual Turkish Festival 2010.

Metrobus customers can use the Next Bus information service to find out when buses will arrive at a given stop, by logging onto Metro’s website at metropensdoors.com or calling 202-637-7000 and saying, “Next Bus.”
